Production costs

If you've clicked on this item, it's because you can't wait to know how much I can make your bag for.

I have two bits of news: one good, and unfortunately one bad.

Which do you want to hear first?

Let's get the worst one out of the way. The bad news is that when you read what I'm about to tell you, you won't get the price of your bag to compare with the ones from the hundred other private label manufacturers you're contacting. If that's what you're looking for, I'll let you go and wish you well for the success of your dream, even if I can't be the one to make it happen. The good news is that if you keep reading, you'll find a wealth of information and you can decide with complete peace of mind whether it suits your project or if you're looking for something else. How about this... can I give you some information in return for some of your time? Creating a collection of bags requires a lot of attention and information-gathering.

The questions I ask during the phone chat (and forward by email), include:

  1. How many models do you want made?
  2. How many pieces per model do you need?
  3. What's the delivery date?
  4. Do you already have patterns?
  5. Have you already contracted other productions?
  6. What's your target price for the bag, excluding materials? And so what should the labour cost be?
  7. Are you supplying the materials, leather or imitation leather?
  8. Are you supplying the accessories?

Let's take a look at a quick example:

You want to contract a shopping bag and a clutch bag, so you need to make two models. For these two models, you want to make 10 pieces of the shopping bag and 60 of the clutch bag. You need them in three months. You don't have patterns. You've already had experience with other subcontractors and want to expand production. The bag has to leave the factory at a hypothetical price of €60. You're providing the materials because you've made a bag that requires particular sourcing, or you've already bought materials. I'll need to supply the accessories.

This initial FREE analysis enables me to frame your project so you don't waste time.

My only purpose is to forge partnerships with designers and companies that care about detail. People like us who spend their nights improving things that are often already perfect. Getting to know each other is fundamental to respecting the sacrifices and hopes of the people you're talking to. Below are the prices for the various work stages.

YOU WON'T FIND THE LABOUR PRICE, but I told you this before!

Pattern

From the drawing you provide, my technical staff, under my supervision, will put together all the pieces to bring your bag to life. The bag won't be made, not even as a prototype.

Bill of materials and labour cost sheet
